21 Days Later...
Fact: Yep, it's been three weeks.
Fallacy: Nope, she did not keel over and disappear from the face of the earth.
Warning: Strap in and brace yourself for the ride. This is gonna be a long one.

So much has happened during the last three weeks that I find it nearly impossible to get it all down on paper. There've been so many things I've wanted to write about that I don't even know where and how to begin.
Let me see... there were movies and tv shows to comment on, book reviews to share, fanfics to recommend, dirty poelitics to discuss and life's little anecdotes to snicker about..
But unfortunately, panis na 'eh. The moment has passed. The momentum long gone. And since I don't want blogging to ever feel like a feckin' chore, then I simply won't put myself to that laborious task. Kung ano na lang maalala ko right now. Hee. Omg, and I say this like people even care about what it is I write. Bwah! *LMAO*

Gluttony
Hi, my name's Meowl and I'm an addict.
I've turned into this fandom-n-fic-whore. As in my day will never be complete without (un)healthy servings of Jack/Irina and Grissom/Catherine fanfiction. Or without dropping by and posting on the Marg forum.
Teesk.
On days that I don't, I get all cranky and fidgety and just plain mopey.
Teesk teesk.
My fingers have become so accustomed to typing in the url of those sites that there are times when the blasted fingers will do 'em typing without my even realizing it.
Teesk teesk teesk.
You'd think that work will get in the way of that. No sireee. I've taken to saving the fics on disk so that I can read everything at home at my own leisure without having to go online.
Grabe na itoh.

She was writhing under the covers. Clutching desperately at the tangled sheets that pooled across her hips. Wildly thrashing her head from side to side, her knuckles turning dangerously white as she held on to her pillow with a death grip that belied her dimunitive size. Her mouth was dry, a stark contrast to the beads of cold sweat running down her neck. The pale darkness of the room a mute witness to the waves of pain that rolled over her body. Over and over. And over.
Puchang PMS yan. Oist, not that kind of PMS, you nitwit. *evil grin*

I don't particularly like Daniel Bedingfield. *coughjologscough* Not to mention the instant dislike I've taken to If You're Not The One the moment I first heard it. I don't know.. he's just a little too pop and boyband-y for my taste.
[Sidenote: Ehem. Ehem. Not dissing those into boybands. Hell knows I've been there at some point so I'm not gonna go hypocritical on those who do. I've just outgrown that phase, is all.]
Anywho, back to Bedingfield.
I think I may have to bite my tongue right now. I was able to download G/C shipper videos from Michele's site and one of 'em happened to use DB's If You're Not The One. I promptly rolled my eyes and prepared myself for the eeek factor I thought was sure to come. I mean, helloooo, sa song pa lang, eew na, pano pa yung video di ba?! But 'lo and behold... after viewing the vid, I was stunned by the realization that I wasn't repulsed by the song as much as I used to be. Shet man. *twilight zone*
I'm not sure if it was just because I luv, lurve, lurved the G/C clips Michele used. And that the editing was definitely a cut above the so-so CSI vids I've seen in some. Plus the fact that I could totally see Grissom playing the persona. Well, whatever it was, it sure did its job.
You know how it is when there's a song you're sick to death of hearing and then one day, you get to sit down and actually "listen" to the song and then think to yourself that it ain't so bad after all? Like it's the first time you've "heard" the lyrics speak to you? Wehehe. Yeah, something like that.
It's either that or I'm turning into a sap. *LOL*
Freaky.
So since the song's pretty old already, I really didn't think I'd ever hear it again under normal, everyday circumstances.
Wrong.
Coz since that day I've decided that I didn't dislike the song anymore, it's been haunting me. I'd get one of my sporadic, where-did-that-come-from LSS attack and hum the tune in my head while walking the distance from 6750 to Park Square. And then a few minutes later, it's the song being played on the homebound shuttle I'm riding on.
Freakier.
Once is uneventful. Twice, a coincidence. Thrice, 'di na funny itoh. And the not-funny thing is, that has happened to me about 4-5 times already in the past few weeks.
WTF?
And this afternoon, I've seen a replay of Janno Gibbs sangin that song on SOP.
Can I just say.. er.. freakiest?
I repeat, it's haunting me.

Lust
Seduced By Moonlight is finally out! *does the happy dance*
Just so you know, that is Laurell K. Hamilton's third installment to her Merry Gentry series.
The book is set in an alternate reality where Faeries are not merely treated as fabled creatures of the Underworld. They are fully recognized by Humans albeit not entirely accepted in the happy happy joy joy context. And when I say faeries, I don't mean the wish-granting types we have come to know in childhood fairy tales nor the Tinkerbelle pixie-types we've seen on screen. I'm talking of feys, sidhes, gods and goddesses of the vengeful, sadistic, power hungry types and pixies of the blood-sucking and flesh-eating kind. That kind of faerie. And that, my fwend, is the much abbreviated cliff notes background of this grisly saga.
I've been waiting for this book to be released for about six months now and I thought I'll be waiting for at least three more months before the ebook version becomes available, if at all. Well, turned out I was wrong. And I've never been happier to be on the erring side.
Thurs 11pm-ish: Downloaded the book
Sat, 2pm-ish: Plopped down in front of the computer for some marathon ebook reading
After 7 chapters, I took pity on my poor pc (which has been up and running since 9am) and decided to take a break. During which, I took a long bath and afterwards, read the dailies while half-watching marathon reruns of The $treet on Studio23.
6-ish: Resumed my sojourn to faerie land with Merry and her men with 89.9's Night Live in the background, stopping only for dinner and the occasional trips to the loo
10-ish: Finally finished all 472 pages of the Word document with a mitotic-looking right eye, nasty stiff neck, and crampy legs to show for it. Felt like there were tiny pinpricks shooting through my shoulder blades all the way to the base of my neck. But no matter.
SBM is not as plot-heavy or as long as the first two books have been, but then the series is still young and I get the feeling that this is but a prologue to something really big. And I can't wait for the fourth one already. In fact, had there been a book four in my possession, I don't think I'll be able to stop myself from plunging right in into the wee hours of the morning.
Sooo... Would I go out on a limb to recommend this book? To be honest, I'm not so sure. But lemme just say first that my reservation has nothing to do with the literary merits nor mass appeal of the book. If you've survived Anne Rice, Stephen King, Dean Koontz and a host of other authors from the horror slash thriller slash suspense genre, then hell yeah, this is prolly right up your alley.
Suffice to say that it is not for the squeamish.
Nor for those whose *cough* moral sensibilities *cough* are easily ruffled.
And definitely Not.For.The.Kiddos.
It does not make for a bedtime story that dreams are made of. It takes you to a dark, dank place and leaves you there. Befuddled, slightly nauseous and reeling from intoxication. Of the literary kind.
It is visually disturbing yet oddly riveting at the same time.
It is sex and violence in its gruesome, graphic glory.
It is hawt, Hawt, HAWT.
*still on sensory overload*
*falls to the floor with a thud*
Epilogue: The author is still a puddle of goo on the floor. Email her if you want a copy of the Merry Gentry ebooks. No guarantees if she'll send it to you but if you take your chances and ask her nicely.. who knows? She just might.
