I'm a sucker for alternate realities. I've always been interested in those "what if" scenarios and "would they or wouldn't they" relationships that remain unexplored in my fave tv shows/movies/books. So if those things don't exactly happen, then I turn to the next best thing: fanfiction. But I'm not into m/m or f/f pairings so I'm having none of those slash fics. I'm pretty big on tolerance but I wouldn't fancy reading e-v-e-r-y graphic bit of it. *shudders* It is just a wee bit icky for my hyperactive imagination.

I'm wearing my glasses again. I've been in a frenzy over fanfics for a few days now. First, it was Gilmore Girls-related. And I blame Studio23 for my renewed interest in this show. After seeing those relentless tv plugs for the new season, I wasn't able to stand it anymore. I just had to read the episode guides for season3. LoLx. Thank heavens for the internet. But naturally, that wasn't enough for an infomaniac like moi. I moved on to read the fanfics. So after having my fill of Luke/Lorelei shippiness (with a smattering of Dean/Lorelei and Jess/Lorelei uhm, stuff, on the side), I moved on to DC Universe (Nightwing/Oracle). I'm currently on Harry Potter mode, reading fics centered on these two unlikely pairs: Draco/Hermione and Snape/Hermione(!).

Now people who read fanfics probably know that it's not easy sorting through (literally) thousands of fanfiction over the net. A major source would be fanfiction.net but then you could always yahoo and google everything else anyway. Through the years, I've come across different kinds of fanfic - plots that were so thin you could barely see it, stories that are downright depraved and authors who just plain suck at writing. And then you also find those really good ones, when the author is able to tweak the canon just the right amount without totally skewing the characterization of the major players of the tv show/movie/book where the fic is based on. Aahh, now we're talking. (",) And if I just happen to like the fic so much, I would even go as far as sending a feedback.

So what have I got to show for my obsessive fanfic hunting? A red eye, apparently. No, it's not a case of conjunctivitis. Just eyestrain, I suppose. A nasty looking one, at that. Up until an hour ago, my right eye (the weaker one) looked like it was undergoing mitosis. [er, that was an embryo reference, wasn't it? *me0wL shudders yet again] So I made a mad dash for the Visine. I know I should be resting now but but but but but... I'm afraid my perky pill has not run out yet. There is such a thing as too much sleep ya know. Well, my eye looks a whole lot better now. The red strands have taken on a faint pinkish hue. Yeah, real comforting. LoLx.
