    sleep sleep sleep

been having some shut-eye problems as of late. the other night has gotta be the w-o-r-s-t one yet. got ready for bed 2am-ish (yeah, baad sleeping habits). i really wasn't that sleepy. i just know that i had to get my body's dose of Zs lest i get sick. so there i was, blankly staring at the ceiling. ugh, i must have tried countless sleeping positions (flat on my back, sideways, face down). Nothing. i was still wide awake. counting sheep? riiiight. like that really works. i stopped counting somewhere in the hundreds. music? baaad idea. i just ended up singin' the friggin' songs. after tossing and turning for what seemed to me like an eternity, i reached for my fone. it was nearly 5am. damn.

nah, it's not insomnia. i could hardly call about two weeks of this a "chronic inability to sleep" (which is what insomnia really is). i've given this some thought this morning and came up with this..
diagnosis: a mild case of boredom
    prognosis: 70% chance of recovery
recommendation: obsess about something, get a life

geek speak: our body works to maintain a certain level of equilibrium (homeostasis) that will facilitate for optimal psychomotor functioning. once a routine has been established, the body produces an approximate amount of
"energy" to sustain us throughout the day. and since my level of activity has been relatively low the past few weeks, the equation did not balance out. high input minus low output equals to excess energy.

ohmygawd.. see? i'm so bored i've been reduced to subjecting this to biopsyc-ish scrutiny.
