    FLICK PICKS

    The Barber - As it is perpetually shrouded in cold and darkness, Alaska effectively set the mood and provided the perfect backdrop for this murder mystery mayhem. and that's about the only good thing i can say about this. hmph! suspense thriller, my ass. the snow was even thicker than the poorly-developed plot. and the charcters? ooh, as interesting as a pack of cold ice. such a shame to see Malcolm McDowell get wasted.
    two words: forget it
    one word: @#$!!

    after that godawful experience came this breezy 60s romp, Down With Love. i was instantly reminded of those old films i used to watch on the station that was previously known as ctv31 (which became the e! channel before it was eventually taken off the air). heavy on the cheese. campy as hell. it's not one of those mindblowing films that leave you shaken long after the credits have been rolled out. it wasn't thigh-slapping funny either. but it was a hoot nonetheless - a fun and delightful ticket to "la-la-la" land.
    fave line: "one? just one? all that work and and and and.. one?! if somebody buys it, then there'll be none" {i don't know, the line kinda stuck. rather inane but hehe... the look on barbara's face when she saw her book onshelf}
    fave moment: the split screen phone conversation between the leads
